The Challenge
Dumont Telephone, an INS Member based company, came to INS Web Development to redesign and organize their old web site representing their new branding effort. It was highly important that content providers have administrative control of site content without relying on a third-party developer to make changes. In addition to redeveloping the existing web site, Dumont Telephone had also invested into a Davis Weather station positioned outside their central office. Their goal was to utilize the Davis Weather software for output on both their local TV channel and online for the citizens of Dumont. Roger Kregel, General Manager of Dumont Telephone, also had a vision of displaying company photos, community events, and product instructions online by way of photos.
The Solution
INS Web Development worked with the Dumont Marketing team to provide a brand new design consistent with new company branding efforts, customer newsletters and print material. The new web site was created with a Content Management System which allows multiple authors the ability to update content on the web site quickly and efficiently. A solution was found by using the Davis Weather software and HTML for generating the local TV channel output and online weather updated every 5 minutes. INS Web Development also utilized an open-source photo gallery that easily allowed content providers the ability to manage an online photo gallery.
The Result
In working with Dumont Marketing and staff, INS Web Development launched a fully redesigned web site that surpassed the initial goals of the web site. The new web site is a primary driver for user friendly features such as local weather, photos, webmail and company products.
